I also like the fact that you both gave them ONE wing at each side.
almost like they are two faces of one mind.
vision: i gave 5 and a halfh because it looks good.
originality: 4 and a halfh because thought alot of death note has light with one wing and a schyte but also at the good side never seen both of tehm like that or l with the apple.
impact: 5 full stars, simply says i acually do love this. it looks great togheter, colours mixing nicely and makes them seems different but at the same time the same. i also have to say, that the deathnote is in the middle makes it all better. without it it would look empty. Nicely done
First off; minor anatomy problems. For example; I don't believe the muscles on Raito's torso, particulary those on the stomach, are entirely correct. You might want to double check that. Also, L's right hand looks a tad bigger than it should be. Other than that; nice use of the contrapposto, particulary because of the symmetry.
Second; props. I think the scythe, although fitting, and Raito's jacket are a bit over-the-top, but that's just my opinion and I won't be harsh about it. The apple, though, seems well placed although I think there sould be a blue gleam on it from the right, seeing as L is lit by the blue light, but the apple mysteriously isn't.
Third; composition. Good, good, the attention is nicely pulled to the characters, and, via the curve of the scythe, is nicely dragged to the Death Note. At least, so it seems. Somehow the view keeps lingering around the end of the scythe. I don't know why this is; it could be the DA watermark (for which I don't blame you: there are a lot of Death Note addicts who would claim this as their own if given the chance), but then I noticed that the light source that's illuminating the characters and the Note, is in fact not behind the Note, but a small distance beneath it. Because of this the view lingers there and does not settle on the Death Note.
Fourth: Colour. A bit too saturated for my taste, but that's my taste. I remember Death Note as being quite dark and gloomy and grey, so this is a bit un-Death Note-ish, in my opinion. Then again, desaturated colours would go weird with the ethereal nature of this piece. They're not exactly running around with one wing in the anime, so I guess liberties are to be taken.
Anyway; ratings time!
Vision: Good interpretation of the classic Death Note protagonist and antagonist. (Or the other way around?) Earns you 4 stars.
Originality: Wings and scythes and half-naked boys have been done before, many times. 2 stars.
Technique: Practically impeccable. Very well done and quite a lot of time must have been spend on it. 5 stars.
Impact: This piece assaults your senses with an arsenal of brilliant colours, simple but effective composition, and effective symmetry. 4 stars.
